Meet Wendy

Wendy Savino has had a lifelong passion for animals, especially dogs. She believes the best companions are our four legged friends. She is a strong proponent of using animals for therapy and educational tools and does so whenever she can. She has seen firsthand the power of animals in helping a learning or emotionally disabled person. She is very active, taking her own pack of pups on hikes daily in the 86 acre town forest that abuts her property. She has an ideal spot for dogs, with a pond, large fenced in yard with access to many acres of state forest for them to run.

Wendy also spent two years working at the Wolf Education and Research Center in Idaho, where she was the program coordinator for the captive pack of eleven wolves.  That was the beginning of her quest to learn as much as possible about canids and was provided the opportunity to interact and study wolf behavior.

Wendy is a former Animal Control Officer in East Haddam and can help with any basic training needs.

Wendy’s family:

Reggie

Reggie is a 12 year old yellow lab mix who found himself on death row in  New York City. He is a very handsome, goofy guy who just wants to see what you have sitting on the counter. He is a registered therapy dog and visits soldiers at the Veteran's Hospital, as well as residents of nursing homes, among other things.

Annie

Annie is a 13 year old chocolate lab who was found roaming in the woods of East Haddam. Numerous attempts were made to find her owners, and when no one came forward, the dog warden called Wendy. Annie is an absolute sweetheart who just wants to cuddle. She has no issues "grabbing" your hand to let you know she wants to be pet! Annie is also a registered therapy dog and CGC certified, and just loves snuggling with anyone.
